For Homeowners
Shed and Outbuilding Power in Adelaide
Turn a plain shed into a workshop, a hobby space or a music room, with proper power and lighting run out to it safely.
What I Can Set Up
- Power Points: enough double power points for your tools, benches and chargers.
- Lighting: bright LED lighting inside, and a light outside the door.
- A Supply From the House: cable run out from the house, underground or overhead depending on the site.
- Safety Switch Protection: on every circuit in the shed.
Why It Needs Doing Properly
An extension lead across the yard is not a shed supply. Cable buried too shallow, or without protection, is easily dug into later. Done properly, the cable is sized for the load and run the way the Wiring Rules require, and the shed has safety switch protection of its own.
Planning It
Tell me what you will run out there, whether that is a welder, a compressor, a fridge or an amplifier, and I will size the supply to suit. If the switchboard in the house has no room for a new circuit, I will tell you up front.
Common Questions
The Things People Ask Me
Can you run power to a shed at the back of the yard?
Yes. The distance and what you plan to run decide the cable size and how it is run. I will look at the site and give you a clear price.
Do I need a separate switchboard in the shed?
It depends on how many circuits you need and what you are running. For a few power points and lights, often not. For a proper workshop, a small sub-board in the shed is usually the better setup.
